Zespół Vavamuffin powstał mniej więcej w lutym 2003 roku w Warszawie. W skład zespołu weszli przedstawiciele dwóch, a może i trzech, pokoleń reggae i raggamaniaków.
Za obsługę mikrofonów, czyli nawijanie, odpowiedzialni są: Gorg (- ex Transmisja), Mr. Reggaenerator (- ex O.K. System, Zjednoczenie Sound System) i Pablopavo (Magara, Zjednoczenie Sound System). Sekcja rytmiczna to : Emili Jones (James Ashen) i Jahcob Junior (Magara, James Ashen). Na gitarce gra Raffi Kazan (Ztvorki, El Dupa, Poker Face), na pianinie i syntezatorach Mothashipp (m.in. James Ashen), a sampler i gramofony obsługuje Dubbist.

Vavamuffin gra muzykę silnie inspirowaną raggamuffin, czy też modern roots z elementami „starego“ reggae i dancehallu. Ważnym elementem jest także freestyle.
Koncerty Vavamuffin to niesamowita energia skierowana do publiczności, doskonała zabawa i przede wszystkim przekaz, który prawdziwa muzyka reggae niesie ze sobą począwszy od swoich korzeni bez wzgledu na czas i na miejsce w jakim się znajduje.
